ORIGINAL THAI ICE MILK TEA @ TERMINAL 21 FOOD COURT (BASEMENT FLOOR)
On my last day I went a bit mental trying to look for things to try for the blog! It's all in the name of the blog thesedays...well that's what I keep telling myself in an effort to sleep better at night.
Original Thai Milk Tea isn't for everyone...it's not as easy to down as ice coffee, it is however, as or even more refreshing!
Condensed milk, Thai tea and shit loads of sugar are what make up the milk tea. If you're looking to cut back on fatty/sugary stuff then don't go for this bad boy!
I really loved it though...I found it to be both sweet and slightly bitter! I bought a box of the tea to try and taste at home...don't think it'll be as impressive as this one though.

BBQ PORK, LAMB, BEEF, CHICKEN & FISH CAKE SKEWERS @ TERMINAL 21 FOOD COURT (BASEMENT FLOOR)
Bangkok is too fabulous. The food is not only incredibly tasty but really really cheap compared to street food anywhere else in the world. You could spend near to nothing and sort yourself out with three meals for the day.
If you venture into Terminal 21 then definitely go check out the basement floor food stalls (near the supermarket). It's full of great snack food and quick fixes.
I tried one or two of the things pictured here and both exceeded my expectations! A must try for meat lovers.

HOKKAIDO MILK @ TERMINAL 21 FOOD COURT (BASEMENT FLOOR)
My main aim for the two days spent in Bangkok was to eat as much as humanly possible. I don't think I suceeded but I definitely came close.
Hokkaido milk was something I had never heard of before trying it, but I'm so glad I did! Move over nesquik powder there's a new sheriff in town and it comes in more flavours than the standard strawb, banana & choc.
Matcha Milk
Manuka Honey Milk
Ceylon Tea Milk
Banana Milk
The list goes on...
I tried the manuka & ceylon tea (obviously). Manuka was alright, tasted a bit plain though! The Ceylon Tea Milk was the best...It has to be one of their best sellers. Each bottle comes in at under one pound.
I love you Bangkok.

SWEET & SOUR MANGO WITH SALTY AND SWEET CHILLI DIP @ TERMINAL 21 FOOD COURT (BASEMENT FLOOR)
I'm not sure if this stall is always set up but whilst I was in Bangkok I visited it at least three times. Unfortunately the language barrier meant that I couldn't find out exactly what ingredients made up the chutneys!
You can buy their homemade bottled chutney at the stall itself and they even pack boxes for you to take away and munch at a later time.
I paid around one pound for the takeaway box...bargain!

PAPAYA SALAD, BBQ PORK & RICE + SINGHA BEER @ MBK SHOPPING MALL, BANGKOK, SINGAPORE
I only spent two days or so in Bangkok so you'll forgive me that I didn't get the chance to try everything I had hoped to. MBK is a sweet place to check out if you haven't been to Bangkok before. It's filled with lots of little shops and stalls selling everything from beer t-shirts & baggy pants to knock-off handbags & traditional Thai gear. For someone who's never been to Bangkok before I enjoyed myself thoroughly at this mall. Everything was ridiculously cheap...even though, when I told my Thai friend how much I bought stuff for he said 'You got ripped off mate.' But still!
I was really impressed by the food court at MBK. It definitely isn't anything fancy but it's perfect for a quick foodie experience for pretty much less than 5 pounds (10 dollars). The MBK food court uses a card system instead of handling cash...I found this to be a little long winded but it was also a lot less stressful in the long run.
The papaya salad was incredible! The lady who made it fresh in front of me had some crazy papaya salad skills which I could only but dream of. She sliced everything in her hand with a sharp blade and used a pestle and mortar to mix everything up. It was ready within 3 minutes flat and it really did not disappoint. In fact, it was so good that I had it the next day for lunch as well.
BBQ pork and rice is a staple Chinese dish you find in almost any good food court thesedays. It's simple and so tasty that I can never resist! This one wasn't the best I've ever had but it wasn't the worst either. 5/10 material.

STREET FOOD: JUICE & SOUR MANGO WITH SALT & CHILLI, BANGKOK, THAILAND
I'm a hugeeeee fan of Sri Lankan achcharu which to those who don't know is a form of pickling. We take mangoes (ones that aren't ripe taste best in my opinion), pineapples and many other fruits and we mix them with vinegar, mustard seeds, chilli, salt, pepper...a variety of different things.
I was really happy to see that even the Thai people love their own version of it. I bought this at a little stall selling almost every kind of fruit you can imagine...pretty damn awesome.
Inside the bag is another little pouch filled with a salt chilli mixture.
Perfection!

ICE LEMON TEA SODA @ TEA STORY, BANGKOK, THAILAND
So you're looking for something to cool you down in 30 degree Bangkok heat. There's water...coconut juice...coke...
and then there's the ice lemon tea soda at Tea Story.
I had never tried it before, nobody had recommended it to me but I knew I didn't want anything milky or with tapioca pearls. I reckon this is a new addition to their menu because they seemed to be promoting the drink quite a bit.
Anyway this drink proved to be a little slice of heaven. It was super refreshing and satisfying. I wish I had more time to try some of their other drinks.

MATCHA ICE CREAM WITH OREO COOKIE @ COLDSTONE ICE CREAMERY, SIAM PARAGON MALL, BANGKOK, THAILAND
Okay so needless to say this was not a very good choice at all. I had been waiting to try matcha ice cream because I'm so obsessed with matcha tea latte's. I am now convinced that it's not meant to be an ice cream flavour.
I'm sure lots of other people appreciate the flavour more than I do but I certainly wouldn't order this again. Plus my combo of oreo cookies was not a great way to go either.
They had plenty of other yummy treats on the menu so don't let this post deter you from coldstone. Let it, however, deter you from matcha flavoured ice cream. Next please!

BERRY BELLINI @ KU DE TA, MARINA BAY SANDS, SINGAPORE
First time I ever tried a Bellini and no doubt it won't be the last. This berry Bellini totally hit the spot with some real fresh berries to accentuate the taste. I'd drink this all day everyday if I wasn't going to become a raging alcoholic. Ku De Ta overall only truly impressed with a couple of dishes, this drink and their ambiance.
It was my first time in Singapore so I heard about this place through referral...probably why I was expecting something more. At least I can say the view was totally worth it! Check out more pics below...

SALMON SASHIMI WITH CHILLI @ KU DE TA, MARINA BAY SANDS, SINGAPORE
Name the time or place, as long as my friend sashimi is present i'm pretty much down. My relationship with sushi/sashimi first began around 5 or 6 years ago when I tried it at YoSushi! when they really only had a few branches dotted around London.
Since then, I've tried different sashimi dishes from all over the place...my favourite being the one at Nihonbashi, Colombo, Sri Lanka. However, this one did come quite close. Like I said before, Ku De Ta was a really 'pretty' restuarant to check out but if you're going for the food then you've got the wrong idea. It isn't all as wonderful as it looks. Their salmon sashimi may prove that statement wrong to some...it didn't really convince me although it tasted pretty good anyway.

CLASSIC CUBAN MOJITO'S @ CUBA LIBRE, CLARKE QUAY, SINGAPORE
We tried looking for the bar where nurses serve you drinks through IV drips & syringes whilst you sit on hospital beds...it seemed to have closed down, probably a great thing! Our hunt led us to this baby...Cuba Libre. Although the drinks don't look that big in the photograph, let me reassure you that they were the biggest mojito's i've ever tasted, about the size of a big jar of coffee.
What happens when you mix some fresh mint leaves, a couple of limes, shit loads of crushed ice, rum & a sugar cane stick? You get to taste a little piece of Cuban perfection.
If you're looking for a chill vibe and somewhere to drown your sorrows then this may be the answer.

SINGAPORE SLING @ RAFFLES HOTEL, RAFFLES CITY, SINGAPORE
My mum was the one who informed me that Raffles Hotel was the one responsible for creating and perfecting the world famous cocktail, Singapore Sling. It was good to actually try one for the first time, and one that was made with so much TLC at that.
So to give you an idea what's inside, a Singapore Sling is made up of:
1 part gin
1/2 part cherry brandy
4 parts pineapple juice
1/2 part lime juice
1/4 part Cointreau or Orange Liqueur
1/4 part benedictine herbal liqueur
1/3 part grenadine syrup
1 dash Angostura Bitters
This was refreshing, tasty but not too sweet and a definite success on their menu. We asked the waiters how many they make per day, they said around 100! Mad!
If the original isn't for you then they have loads of different variations of it to choose from as well.

BAKKWA @ BEE CHEN HIANG, CHANGI AIRPORT, SINGAPORE
If you're big on meat or jerky then Bakkwa is most definitely for you. I first tried it last year when a friend bought it back from Singapore, I sat at his table and pretty much ate it all. I tried it in Malaysia too but it wasn't as great as the one from Bee Chen Hiang.
Bakkwa is a Chinese salty, sweet-dried meat product very similar to jerky. Although in my opinion, the taste is miles ahead of any shop bought jerky! You can select from chicken, pork and beef...and they come with a variety of seasonings.
If they sold it over here I'd be their number one customer for sure.
